Oakleaf, Arlene Adeline
Arlene Adeline Oakleaf, 92, of Manchester, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester. A private memorial service will be held. Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 25, 1920, at Lake Mills, the daughter of Wilmer and Ella (Hermanson) Peterson. Arlene was an Ames High School graduate. She was united in marriage to Douglas E. Oakleaf on Jan. 10, 1943, in Ames. Three children were born to this union. Arlene was a wife and homemaker. They resided in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Minnesota. The past year they had resided at the Meadows in Manchester. Before moving to Manchester, they resided in Minnesota for 35 years.
Arlene was an excellent seamstress and knitter. She loved and enjoyed her family.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas E. Oakleaf of Manchester; three children, Thomas Douglas (Janet) Oakleaf of Manchester, Sandra Ann Meyer of Shoreview, Minn. and Sharon Oakleaf Olson of Eagan, Minn.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaVonne (John) Erickson of Newton and Olive Booth of Ames.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Peterson; a sister, Esther Stutzman; and a son-in-law, James Meyer.
