Nunemaker, Donna Marie
Donna Marie Nunemaker, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Beckman. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 4 p.m. Visitation also one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Bruce Jr. Nunemaker (Linda Lemois) of Aurora, Colo., Michael (Deb) Nunemaker, David (Kathleen) Nunemaker, and Jerry (Tina) Nunemaker, all of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Deborah (Scott) Bierman of Decorah and Sheila (Roger) Townsend of Clive; brother, Dean Kruse of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law, Richard (Evelyn) Nunemaker of Hiawatha and Bernie Beranek of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Jean Nunemaker of Marion and Alice Nunemaker and Betty Kruse, both of Cedar Rapids; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great friends.
Donna was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Central City, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Pearl (Dunlap) Kruse. She married C. Bruce Nunemaker on Sept. 7, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. Donna worked at Cryovac, Killian's, and then as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Bruce's Phillips 66. She also spent many years as a loving day care provider.
Donna enjoyed bowling, playing card games and Bunco, and being a den mother for Cub Scouts. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was previously involved with church circles at St. Pius X.
Donna will be remembered as a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Pearl Kruse; husband, Bruce; daughter, Barbara Oestern; brothers, Richard and James Kruse; and sister, Yvonne Beranek.
