Novak, Louis L.
Louis L. Novak, 89, of rural Tiffin, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home, Iowa City, with the Rev. Beverly Marshall-Goodell officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. Wednesday until services at the funeral home. Military Honors will conclude the services at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in Louis's memory.

Louis Leo Novak was born March 12, 1922, on the family farm near Oxford, Iowa, the son of William W. and Mary A. (Netolicky) Novak. During World War II, Louis served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Ulana Ellen Post on Feb. 19, 1946, at the Methodist Church in North Liberty. Louis had been a longtime area resident, in years past he was a 4-H leader, and on the North Liberty School Board. He had enjoyed a lifetime of dancing and had continued to put puzzles together up until his death, as way to keep his mind sharp!
His family includes his children, Marjorie (David) Stanton of Tiffin, and John (Cecile) Novak of Littleton, Colo; three granddaughters, Theresa, Jessica and Margaret; one great-granddaughter, Melissa; two sisters, Leona M. Westemeier and Blanche A. Volesky, both of Cedar Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Post of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ulana (August 20, 1989); brother and his wife, William and Irene Novak; and brothers-in-law, Ray Westemeier, Lawrence Volesky and L. Dean Post.
