Novak, Lois 'Torchie'
Lois “Torchie” Novak, 86, passed away March 12, 2012 at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. William B. Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Vikki Novak of Cedar Rapids; a niece, Sharron (Jim) Michalczyk of Carpentersville, Ill.; and many loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth (Hutton) Booze; her husband, Charles Novak; a brother, Wilson Booze; and sister, Mary (Dale) Harris.
Lois Novak was born October 19, 1925 in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ruth (Hutton) Booze. She was united in marriage on May 31, 1952 to Charles Novak. Lois owned and managed The Coffee Den, which was across from The Gazette building for many years. She also worked for Wilson Meat Packing. She very much enjoyed time spent with her daughter, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
