Novak, Betty 'Grammie'
Betty “Grammie” Novak, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. Per Betty's wishes, a small prayer service will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 9, at Buffalo United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, with no visitation. Private family inurnment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald; daughters, Sheryl Arnett and Karen (Dan) Boeding; grandchildren, Emily and Derek Boeding; a brother, Richard (Jean) Zinser; granddog, Scooter; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nana and Pap.
Betty E. Novak was born March 26, 1929, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of G. Wilfred and Dorothy (Wilson) Zinser. Betty married Donald Novak on April 27, 1960, in Iowa City.
Betty was known for her active volunteering with the veterans hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, and HACAP. She loved her crafts, knitting and crocheting, scratch lottery tickets and reading. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed by all.
Per Betty's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buffalo United Methodist Church.
