Noser, Dwane Burton
Dwane Burton Noser, 82, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Iowa City, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at The Villages. A memorial service celebrating Dwane's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, at The University Athletic Club in Iowa City. A time of visitation will follow.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ewers Noser; his children, Bill (Susan) Noser of Iowa City, Bob (Jennifer) Noser of Iowa City, Tracy (Kirk) Speraw of Coralville, Brett (Kay) Noser of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Terri Noser-Swartz of Moorhead, Minn.; and grandchildren, Ryan, Rob and Elizabeth Noser, Caroline and Sarah Noser, Drew, Brooke, Dustin and Bailey Speraw, and Troy, Kyle, Claire and Grant Noser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Noser and Edna Baumgartner Noser; his sister; Donna Noser; a brother, Wilmer Noser; and a son-in-law, Eric Swartz.
Dwane was born May 6, 1928, in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa, where he met and married his loving wife of 56 years, Jean Ewers. They were married August 29, 1954. Dwane was a member of ROTC in college and served as a captain in the United States Army. He owned and operated Ewers Men's Store with his wife and family in Iowa City for many years. Dwane was a past board member of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Association. He was an enthusiastic member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and served on its alumni board. He enjoyed membership in the University of Iowa I-Club, Iowa City Quarterback Club, the Noon Optimist Club and was a member of the Elks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation, Alzheimer's Research Fund in memory of Dwane Noser.
