Norman F. Rosene, 92, of Independence, formerly of Rowley, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Norman was born July 7, 1924, in rural Walker, Iowa, the son of Lawrence W. and Hulda A. (Thedens) Rosene. He graduated from Rowley High School in 1941. He went on to marry the love of his life, Shirley J. Grant, on March 30, 1947, at the United Methodist Church in Independence. The couple made their home in rural Rowley, where he operated a dairy farm. He began working for Rockwell Collins in 1966 for 23 years, until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife and spending winters in Port Aransas, Texas.
He is survived by his three children, Bruce (Cathy) Rosene, Rowley, Lynnette (Marshall) Lantz, Cedar Falls, and Connie (Ron) Bergman, Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben Rosene, Bloomington, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Rosene; and two sisters, Vanda Hanna and Elaine Oles.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. Lisa Thedens officiating. Inurnment will be in Rowley Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
