Norman L. Bales, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday Nov. 8, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; three sons, Elliott (Lisa) of Arlington, Va., James (Tara) of Charlotte, N.C., and Gary (Kelly) of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter, Ruby (Richard) Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colo. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Hunter, Audrey and Scott; one great-granddaughter, Av; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Norman was born on June 21, 1935, in Bosque County, Texas, the son of Burl and Ruby Lane Bales. He graduated from Abilene Christian College with a degree in Biblical Studies.
Norman married Sarah Ann Williams on Dec. 26, 1959, in Waco, Texas.
He ministered churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New York, Louisiana, and most recently in Iowa. He also was a published author of several books.
Norman enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
