Norman K. Zenor, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Ames, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at St. Luke’s Transitional Care Center, Cedar Rapids.
Norman was born November 14, 1930, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Warren A. and Fern (Cross) Zenor. He graduated from Ames High School and attended Iowa State University and Michigan State University where he got his certificate in dairy Industry. Norman served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 – 1953, in Germany as an MP. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Hunter on August 29, 1954, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Norman retired from Sanitary Daries after 42 years of dedicated service. He then worked part-time at Menards West for 14 years. Norman loved sports, gardening, and woodworking.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Mary Lou; sons, Glenn (Jean), Winston (Deann), Kenton (Diane); 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Fern and siblings, Warren Allen Jr., Blaine, Nondas Beswick, and Carita Hoffman.
Per Norman’s request, no services will be held and he will be cremated. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army, 1000 C Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405.
