Norman Craig Stigers, 67, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Friday, June 2, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
Norm was born Oct. 25, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Phyllis Jean (Haynes) Stigers and Fred R. Stigers. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1974. Norm had worked for many years for Swiss Valley Farms and then part-time with a flooring company doing office floors. A loving and caring son, for several years until their deaths, he cared for his parents so they could remain in their home.
In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Stigers.
A loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Norm enjoyed time spent with his family and many friends. He enjoyed boating and fishing on the Cedar River and Table Rock Lake. An Iowa Hawkeye fan, you could find him watching and cheering whenever they played.
Survivors include his sister, Stephanie Chisholm and her husband, Jack of Overland Park, Kan.; his brother, Roger Stigers of Drums, Pa.; his sister-in-law, Pat Cline of Norway, Iowa; his former wife, Debra (Erenberger) Stigers of Cedar Rapids; beloved nieces and nephews, Julie Stigers MD (Rusty Savage); Jennifer Malcolm; Steven (Gabriella) Stigers; Michelle (Zach Reed); Christine (Josh Pollard) and Laura (Chris Hoffman) Chisholm; Sherel Mainer and Stacey Primising (Joe); great-nieces and nephews, Logan Malcolm, Allie Templeton and Cody Loch; Sophie and Liam Stigers; Hailey and Chase Douglas Stigers; Cooper and Kinzley Reed; Faith and Matthew Mainer.
At Norm’s request, services will be private. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the future.
