NORMA JEAN MAXWELL

Norma Jean Maxwell, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Higley Mansion Care Center in Cedar Rapids after an extended illness. Private services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathleen (Mark Ordway) Ingersoll of Boston, Mass., and Laura (Lisa) Maxwell of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ryan Corona, Sara Vasquez and Katie Corona of Sacramento, Calif., Nicholas Ingersoll of Boston and Danny Hack of Cedar Rapids; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Claudia Corona Maxwell; and her parents, Hollie and Nola Rynor.
Norma Jean Maxwell was born May 23, 1930, in Corydon, Iowa, the daughter of Hollie and Nola Rynor. She graduated from high school in Corydon. Norma married Richard Maxwell on June 23, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa. Richard and Norma made family homes in Boston, Providence and Chicago, before settling in Cedar Rapids. Norma worked for the state of Iowa, Des Moines, Putnam Financial, Boston and Coe College, Cedar Rapids, during her career. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking and being with friends and family. Norma had a keen sense of humor and was a caring mother and homemaker.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Mercy.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Higley Mansion Care Center and Dr. Fadi Yacoub for the loving care they provided.
