Norma Jean Ledvina, 93, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 PM followed by the Rosary.
Norma was born on September 4, 1931, in rural Tama County, the daughter of Ansel and Julia (Duffy) Spire.
She graduated from Tama High School in 1949 and was employed in the office of Attorneys, Mike and John Hyland in Tama until 1953.
On April 25, 1953, she was united in marriage to Joseph W. Ledvina at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Joe was in the Army at that time and they lived in Chicago for a year until his discharge. They moved to the family dairy farm northwest of Chelsea where they lived for forty years. Joe passed away in 1994 and two years later Norma moved to Tama.
Norma was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and the CCW. She volunteered at the South Tama Food Pantry for many years. Her favorite music was 50’s and 60’s, she loved doing crossword puzzles, enjoyed her computer and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Jerry) Dvorak, Chelsea; a son, Stan (Julia) Ledvina, Kalamazoo, MI; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ledvina, Carmel, IN; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joseph; a son, Steven in 2004; four sisters; and a brother.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
