Norma J. McDonell, 90, of Monticello, Iowa, went home to her heavenly Father on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center in Monticello, Iowa.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Castle Grove. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.

Norma was born July 24, 1930, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Sherlock) Turnis. She married Stephen A. McDonell on Sept. 9, 1954.
Norma graduated from Mercy school of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1953. She greatly enjoyed her time as a nurse at John McDonald Hospital. She was a tireless volunteer, receiving much recognition for her volunteer work. Norma valued her many friends in her community.
Survivors include her children, Mark (Kathy) McDonell of Cedar Falls, Judy McDonell of Monticello, Alan (Jan) McDonell of Pleasant Hill, Chuck McDonell of Moscow, Idaho, Joe (Kathy) McDonell of Monticello, Ted (Janet) McDonell of Monticello, Pat McDonell of Monticello and Sue (Jeff) Sefzik of Sun Prairie, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Mary Frances Jasper of Hopkinton, Ruth Turnis of Dubuque and Rosie (Leo) Heid of Hopkinton; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A. McDonell; a daughter in infancy, Carol McDonell; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Kathy "Garber" McDonell; siblings, Mark, Bill, Phil, Richard and Betty Turnis and Janet Digmann; and many in-laws.
Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart School or Relay for Life.
