Norma Brady, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Anamosa Care Center following a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. Interment: Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Rodney Bluml will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday
at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving are her son, Jim (Amy) Christianson, and granddaughters, Emily and Olivia, of Anamosa; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Waggoner, Wyoming, and Donna Waggoner, Cedar Rapids; nieces, Darlene Daniels, Joyce Bartels, Denise Waggoner Nipper, Lori Waggoner and Frances Finck; and a nephew, Tom Orr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; her siblings, Paul and Galen Waggoner and Kathryn Orr; and nephews, Donald Orr and Leland Orr.
Norma Ruth Waggoner was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936, on a farm near Olin, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harold Franklin and Eliza Gesina (Lizzie) Weers Waggoner. Norma graduated from Onslow High School in 1953, where she played the accordion and was on the girls' basketball team.
Norma was employed at Maquoketa Valley REC from 1953 to 1963. Norma married James Christianson on Jan. 19, 1957, in Wyoming, Iowa. They lived in Anamosa. They later moved to Rapid City, S.D., Waukesha, Wis., and then Boone, Iowa. She was part of the Welcome Wagon program and also sold Luzier Cosmetics. Following their divorce in 1974, Norma returned to Anamosa and her job at the REC. Norma married Don Brady on June 4, 1977, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. Norma and Don operated Brady's Farm Service Station in Anamosa. Don preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1990. Norma continued to operate the station for several years thereafter. She retired from the REC in 1999. In retirement, she worked part-time at the hot lunch program at the school.
Norma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. She had served as president of St. Paul's Lutheran Church council. Norma belonged to Jones County Historical Society and Anamosa Camera Club and was a 50-year member of Eastern Star.
