Norma Jean Bergen, 71, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by her family. Per Norma's request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Norma was born on June 7, 1946, in Iowa City, the daughter of Oliver and Jean (Toms) Geinzer.
In her younger years, she enjoyed clogging and square dancing, and later became a member of the Red Hat Society. She spent many years working as a daycare provider out of her home. She also held positions at Rockwell Collins, Northbrook Manor Care Center, Goodwill, Parsons Technology and Hunters Specialties.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia (Mike) Pierce of Tennessee and Theresa Sawyer of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Ashley Schoenberg; grandson, Chad Meyer; sister, Julie Thomas; and brothers, Mike and Gilbert Huelsenbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Lindsey (Ed) Huelsenbeck; brother, David Geinzer; sister, Linda Cones; stepbrothers, Robert and John Huelsenbeck; and stepsister, Mary Meyers.
