Norma Ann (Falck) Wright was born on March 27, 1934, to Lewis and Mable (McLaury) Falck in Belle Plaine, IA. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and attended what was then called The Iowa Teachers College and later became the University of Northern Iowa.

Norma married Earl Otis Wright on June 8, 1956. They later divorced. To this union five children were born, Sharon Wright, of Waterloo, IA, Linda (Ron) Ogden, of Davenport, IA, Katie (Craig) Burns, of Akron, CO, Robert (Marvin) Wright Gillman, of St. Charles, MO, and Donna (William) King, of Williamsburg, IA. She had four grandchildren, Sean (Alexandria) Ogden, of Bettendorf, IA, Cole Burns, of Akron, CO, Raymond King, of Williamsburg, IA, and Norah (Woojin) Park, of South Korea. She has two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Gavin Ogden, of Bettendorf, IA.

Norma is survived by her children, grand- and great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Sue Falck Allgood, and many, many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.

Norma was a talented musician, playing the Piano, Organ, Clarinet and Saxophone. She was a member and the organist at United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona, IA. She managed the church's food bank until her move from Kalona to Williamsburg. Norma taught for 39 years, in Iowa and Nebraska, primarily the 4th grade. The bulk of her teaching years were at Mid-Prairie Kalona Elementary School. Students have shared their great respect for her teaching skills and dedication to each student. She was an active member of the Teacher's Union, serving in leadership roles. Norma was a member of P.E.O. Chapter MX, Washington, IA. She served as President and other leadership roles for her current and previous Chapters in Iowa and Nebraska. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States and especially visiting her children and grandchildren. Being able to ride horses at her daughter Katie's ranch was a highlight for her. Norma was a staunch defender of people’s rights and embraced and modeled the concepts of diversity, inclusivity and equality.

Norma passed away on January 20, 2026, in Williamsburg, IA. She was surrounded by family and friends throughout her end days. We take comfort in knowing she has been released from a body filled with pain and reunited with the family and friends who preceded her in death. Most especially we celebrate that Norma is now in the arms of her Lord following a lifetime of service in His Name.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mable Falck, grandparents William and Anna Falck, and John and Abbie Falck, her brother, John L. Falck, and Earl Wright, her children's father.

Per Norma's request there will be no service. There will be, in Norma’s words, “A Party with Chocolate”, (Celebration of Life) to be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Kalona Library, 510 C Avenue, Kalona, IA 52247. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, IA, at a separate time. Memorials may be directed to The Iowa City Hospice, The Kalona Historical Village and Highland Ridge Assisted Living/Gables Care Center (Presbyterian Homes & Services).
