Norine Ann Fisher, 79, of Cedar Rapids, IA, ascended to Heaven December 23, 2023 surrounded by family and the caring staff of Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, IA.
Norine was born on March 1, 1944 to Edward Sebetka and Rosemary Sebetka (Barr) in Cresco, IA. In her early years, “Sis” often helped her mom care for her brothers, developing her nurturing attributes. She graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids 1962 and was married to Virgil Laverne Fisher in 1963. Virgil and Norine had two daughters, Michelle Marie in 1963 and Jamie Christine in 1969.
Norine received her degree from Hawkeye Technical for Civil Engineering and was last employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation. She had previously been employed by Bell Telephone and John Deere. She was well traveled, living in Iowa, Texas, California and Virginia.
Norine was preceded in death by her parents Edward Sebetka and Rosemary Barr, brother Stephen Sebetka, sister Stacia Barr and grandson Dana Fisher. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Lamos (Tim) and Jamie Fisher (Matt), grandsons Brendan Fisher and Alexander Fisher, brothers Raphael Sebetka (Sue), Russell Sebetka (Vicki), Timothy Sebetka, Donald Barr (Elizabeth) and Robert Barr, sisters Mary Ellen Willey (Kevin) and Danielle Droste. Norine is survived by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.
Norine (Nonie) was a Sebetka at heart which typically means there is going to be cutting up and laughter involved at any gathering, we did not disappoint. Fun and laughter were heard coming from her room as she prepared for her journey to everlasting life.
Norine loved the spring, new life and blooming of flowers. The family will have a Celebration of Life in the Spring, date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, IA. https://www.mercycare.org/services/hospice/house-of-mercy/
