Norene V. Danskin, 95, of Marengo, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Marengo Memorial Hospital. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Norene is survived by her nephew, Dr. Robert Blaine and wife Diana and their children of La Habra, Calif.; numerous cousins, including Betty Mouchka of Marengo and Mission, Texas; and special friends and neighbors, Mike and Pam Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth R. Danskin in 1992; and a brother, Edwin Blaine in 1995.
Norene Virginia Blaine was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Sumner Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Emma Mitchell Blaine. She attended rural Iowa County schools. Norene and Kenneth R. Danskin were married Dec. 20, 1938, in Tipton, Iowa. They were lifelong farmers southwest of Marengo.
Following Kenneth's death, Norene moved into Marengo, where she had resided since 1996.
Norene enjoyed her many flower and vegetable gardens, sharing fond memories of her brother and the simpler times. She especially enjoyed her Saturday evening ritual of listening to her favorite music of the Lawrence Welk Show.
