Noel, Nancy A.
Nancy A. Noel, 59, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Mercy Hospice following a courageous battle with emphysema.The family will celebrate Nancy's life Thursday, Jan. 17, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where they will greet friends from 4 to 6p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Nancy was born Feb. 16, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of James and Hazel Read Philpot. She was raised in Elizabeth, Ill., where she graduated from Elizabeth High School. Nancy attended Cornell College.
During college she began working at Ming Gardens in Coralville, until a fire closed the restaurant. Nancy then was employed at Buck Board Annie's in North Liberty, where she met her husband, Greg Noel. They were married in Las Vegas on July 14, 1984. Nancy was involved in her husband's business until ill health forced her to retire.
Nancy was employed by the City of North Liberty as a longtime crossing guard at Penn Elementary, where she enjoyed watching the children throughout the years. Nancy was involved in her children's Girl and Boy Scout programs and their sporting activities. She liked flea markets and pets. Nancy especially loved caring for her grandson, Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Sr.; and their son, Gregory Jr.; and their daughter, Stacy Noel (Adam Behrends); her adorable grandson, Jackson; and her mother-in-law, Mary Noel of Iowa City.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Keith Noel; and many aunts and uncles; and Hummel, her loving schnauzer.
