Noel, Katherine 'Kay'
Katherine “Kay” Noel, 95, of 220 Curtis St. SW, died at home surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by the Rev. Thomas Osterkamp. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. A visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kay is survived by daughter, Clarice (Kendal) Fuller of Cedar Rapids; sister, Edna Lannom of Lebanon, Tenn.; grandchildren, John (Teresa) Fuller, Janet Fuller and Julie (Kevin) McBride; four great-grandchildren; six bonus great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank; a son, John A. Harris “Joe Noel”; grandson, James Fuller; great-grandson, Jimmy; seven sisters; three brothers; and her beloved dog, Meisha.
Kay was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Jackson County, Tenn., to Robert and Vernie Jones Flatt, the first of their 12 children. She and her first husband, John Harris, moved to Three Rivers, Texas, where on Oct. 28, 1936, their son, John A. Harris “Joe Noel”, was born. They moved on to Pueblo, Colo., where she was widowed early in World War II. She moved with her son to Roswell, N.M., where she met her late husband, Frank C. Noel. They married July 8, 1943. After the war, they moved to Waukesha, Wis., where in 1949 their daughter, Clarice was born. Early in 1950, they moved to Cedar Rapids, where she has made her home ever since.
She was a member of New Encounters and Caleb Club.
