Noel Jr., Vancil Frank
Vancil Frank Noel Jr., 70, of Waverly, Iowa, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Waverly Health Center.
Vancil was born May 5, 1942, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Vancil Sr. and Fern (Luitjens) Noel. He was raised in Waverly, where he graduated from Waverly High School in 1961. On July 24, 1976, Vancil was united in marriage to Donna Jaschen at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. During his life Vancil worked as a metal fabricator for White Farm Equipment in Charles City, Nestle (Carnation), Walkers Auto Salvage in Waverly, farmed for Kendall Wittenburg and worked for Waterloo Auto Parts. Vancil retired in 2005.
Vancil was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly, where he was confirmed May 1, 1977, and baptized March 27, 2005. He was also a charter member of Bremer County Sno-Knights and auxiliary member of Waverly VFW Post 2208. Vancil led a very active life. His hobbies included bowling, where he was recognized in the 2013 Bowling Hall of Fame, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, motocross, drag racing, and playing cards. However, what Vancil enjoyed most was spending time with his family and close friends.
Vancil's memory is honored by his wife, Donna Noel of Waverly; his mother, Fern Noel of Waverly; seven children, LuCretia Lucy of Dallas, Texas, Roland (Wendy) Noel of Waverly, Dave (Janeen) Noel of Shell Rock, Angie (Cliff) Worrell of Robins, Tony (Karyl) Noel of Waverly, Theresa (Mark) Pothast of Shell Rock, and Dan (Barb) Noel of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Terry (Janet) Noel of Waverly.
He was preceded in death by his father; a grandson, Michael Noel; and two sisters, Nancy Noel and Dennae Noel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at St. John Lutheran Church, Waverly. Burial will be at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly (319) 352-1187.
