Noah Alfred Ohrt, 17, of Gladbrook, entered his heavenly home with the angels on Saturday, March 8, 2014, following a courageous, two-year fight with Ewings Sarcoma. Noah passed away with his loving family and girlfriend, Kyleah Dugan, by his side.
Noah was born Jan. 16, 1997, in Marshalltown,
Iowa. He was a junior at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School in Reinbeck, Iowa. While in high school, he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He was also an honors student.
Noah loved the outdoors. He enjoyed dirt biking, snowmobiling, fishing and sitting around the campfire with his friends. He was active in the Gladbrook Gals & Guys 4-H Club, Junior Bowling League and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Noah loved football and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He could make anyone laugh and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at the Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School Gymnasium in Reinbeck at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13. Pastor Robert Doner of Peace United Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be held at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12.
Noah is survived by his parents, Ed and Kathy Ohrt of Gladbrook; sister, Kayla Ohrt (Eric Berkson) of Des Moines; brother, Zach Ohrt (Brittany Frye) of Gladbrook and their daughter, Maleaha Ohrt; grandmother, Karen Ohrt (Leo Schwaller) of Gladbrook; girlfriend, Kyleah Dugan of Gladbrook; aunts and uncles include, Ellyn (Mike) McDonald of Oklahoma, Deena (Mike) Ryan of New Hampshire, Alan (Bev) Timm of Tama, Dave (Joleen) Timm of Tama, Janice (Randy) Huff of Tama, and Chris Timm and his son, David Ferguson of Colo; and 23 loving cousins.
Noah was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alfred and Gertrude Timm of Tama; paternal grandfather, Curtis Ohrt of Gladbrook; aunt Cindy Kaloupek of Grinnell; and aunt, Judith Timm of Tama.
