Niles Jr., Harvey J.
Harvey J. Niles Jr., 86, of 1500 Red Fox Way, Marion, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at ManorCare in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 tonight.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Ozburn of Marion; a son, John of Center Point; and a brother, Robert T. (Margaret) Niles of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kimberly Dooley, Kari Blahnik, Kelsey and Lindsey Niles; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Megan Dooley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Bruna and Patricia Harris; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Niles.
Harvey was born June 2, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harvey and Anne (Dolezal) Niles Sr. He married Jean H. Hinrichs on May 10, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2006. Harvey was a foreman at LeFebure and retired from there after more than 43 years of service.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Coralville Ski Club and the VFW and proudly served in the Navy during World War II. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, boating and especially the time spent with his beloved family and many friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to ManorCare for the love and care given to Harvey.
A memorial fund has been established in Harvey's name.
