Nick S. Yost, 89, of Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. May 10 at Elim Tabernacle in Greenfield, Wis. Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and Schmidt & Bartelt in Sussex are serving the family.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; and is survived by his son, William (Linda) of Waukon; three daughters, Linda (the late Fred) Krueger of Pewaukee, Wis., Nancy Vik of Greenfield, Wis., and Julie (Von) Kennedy of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Scott Stellman of Pewaukee, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; good friend, Michael Wermuth of Pewaukee, Wis.; and many other friends.
Nick was born in Springport, Ind., on Oct. 16, 1924, to Nick and Mabel Keesling Yost. He proudly served our country as a Navy signalman in World War II and the Korean War. He married Delores Jean Hansen on July 31, 1946. He was employed by Cook Paint, Fred G. Anderson Wallcovering and most recently, Klinger Paint. He often joked that he failed retirement several times.
Nick blessed his friends and family with his positive attitude, sense of humor, work ethic and his love of the outdoors. He was also the quintessential handyman and artist. Nick truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
