Newcomb, Lawrence B.
Lawrence B. Newcomb, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, after a long illness. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; a son, Raymond (Scarlett) of Oklahoma; a niece, Linda Everson of Cedar Rapids; a brother and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Christopher.
Larry was born June 17, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Gerald and Evelyn (Simon) Newcomb. He married Pauline E. McClure on Oct. 29, 1966, in Cedar Rapids. Larry was a laborer for several local contractors. He was a member of American Legion Hanford Post 5 and proudly served in both the Army and Navy during the Vietnam War.
