Newcomb, Betty J.
Betty J. Newcomb, 88, of Palo, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Palo United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Howerton will officiate, with inurnment at Palo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the church.
Betty is survived by many family members and friends, including the Karminski family and Natalee Eckley who stood by Betty's side throughout life's challenges. She was loved dearly and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Newcomb; parents, William and Leda Griffin; adoptive parents, Roy and Edith Smith; daughters, Cecilia Burgess and Marlys Burgess; and brother, Milton Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
