Neva M. Thomas Nolte Stone, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at her home. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brad Brown. Private burial is at Warren Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Survivors include a daughter, Jody (Larry) Lippmann of Cedar Rapids; close friends, Judy (Jay) Hartman of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Bethany McClelland, Ken Hartman and David Pennington; great- grandchildren, Sam and Audrey Hartman; and brother, Oren "Tom" (Ruth) Thomas of Denton, Texas.
Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; and a son, Jeffery Nolte.
Neva Mae was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Ray and Eula McCarter Thomas. She married Gordon Nolte in 1958, but they later divorced. In August 1984, she married Charles Stone. Neva was a bookkeeper at Rapids Wholesale Equipment for many years and then worked at Walmart until August 2016.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed church and the women's church coffee club.
She loved to crochet, knit, garden, watch hummingbirds, bake wonderful homemade bread, play bridge and read, belonging to two book clubs.
Chuck and Neva often would travel to Texas during the winter. Neva loved her family and friends and her cat, Peaches.
Neva lived a very full life and will be deeply missed.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Neva's name.
