Neva Eiben was born March 7, 1920, near Prairieburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Louise Rohn Eiben. She attended rural schools near her home and completed her education in Hopkinton and Monticello community schools. Neva Eiben and James O. Baker were married Sept. 5, 1939, in Monticello. The couple lived in Anamosa for several years and Neva worked at the Anamosa hospital. They later farmed for over 30 years near Central City. Neva worked at Collins Radio during that time as well. In 1980, they retired and moved to Missouri to hunt, fish and attend flea markets all over the South. They moved back to the Central City area in 1995. Neva operated two different antique flea market stores, one in Prairieburg and one in Central City. She was also a Watkins representative for several years. In her spare time, she loved to quilt and crochet.
