Neuhaus, Mary C. Gerhold
Mary C. Gerhold Neuhaus, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins, with the Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be at St. Stephen's Cemetery near Atkins. Visitation also will be held at the church from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mary was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Cedar Rapids to Calvin and Opal (Tow) Rosdail, and graduated from Roosevelt High in Cedar Rapids in 1948. On Nov. 14, 1953, she married Carl Henry Gerhold Jr. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1973. She married David Neuhaus on May 12, 2000, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins.
Mary was employed at the City of Cedar Rapids Water Department, J.C. Penney at Westdale and as a secretary at Farm Service Inc. in Atkins. Her favorite job was always that of mother, wife, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, David Neuhaus of Atkins; her children, Randall (Pamela) Gerhold of Eden Prairie, Minn., Lynnette Gerhold of Cedar Rapids, Carl (Marilyn) Gerhold III of Atkins, Thomas (Julia) Gerhold of Atkins, Jony Gerhold of Sacramento, Calif., and Judy Gerhold of Roseville, Mich.; her stepchildren, Patrick and Kevin Slater of Fairfax; six grandchildren, Melissa and Daniel Gerhold, Kristin (Luke) Stein, Carl Gerhold IV and Ryan and Eric Gerhold; five stepgrandchildren, David and John Slater, Megan (Steve) Schwar and Emily and Mark Slater; her brother, Dennis Rosdail of Newhall; her sisters, Betty Stallman of Fairfax and Janet (Ron) Schanbacher of Newhall; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Rosdail of Springville.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Rosdail.
Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
