Neu, Patrick Joseph
Patrick Joseph Neu, a husband, father, soldier and technician who served his family, country and vocation with quiet dignity, died Friday, July 8, 2011, after a battle with lung cancer. He was 69.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors by American Legion Post 298.
Mr. Neu was born in Cedar Rapids on July 11, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He married Mable Elliott from Tennessee, Oct. 22, 1966.
The couple had two children, son David Neu (Donna); and daughter, Melissa Garza (Anthony).
Mr. Neu worked as a test tech for Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids for 46 years. He retired last year. He enjoyed time with his granddaughter, Samantha Neu, fishing and John Wayne movies.
In addition to his children, Mr. Neu is survived by a brother, Robert Neu of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Mary Kay Boyd (Harry), of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Henry and Anna Neu; and a sister, Mary Lou Neu.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Foundation, 701 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, or the American Lung Association.
