Netolicky, Richard 'Dick' Antone
Richard “Dick” Antone Netolicky, 80, of Ely, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be at Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely, where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel.
Richard was born May 10, 1932, in Ely, Iowa, the son of William and Libby (Bizek) Netolicky. Richard served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and attended the University of Iowa and University of Massachusetts. He served in the Peace Corps in Senegal, Africa. Richard married Rosella Murphy on Dec. 30, 1967, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as the Postmaster of Ely for over 28 years, retiring in 1992. He served on many boards: the South Slope Telephone Co. for 25 years, as well as Selective Service, San Quentin Post 555, Ely Odd Fellows and Ely Historical Society.
Dick is survived by his wife, Rosella; children, Doug (Nancy) Netolicky of Cedar Rapids, Dave (Charley) Netolicky of Ely and Dan Netolicky of Ely; and five grandchildren: Carlee, Tyler, Drew, Addison and Mya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a nephew.
Richard enjoyed carpentry, John Deere tractors, and sharing his vast knowledge of local history with family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the Ely American Legion or the Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
