Nesbitt Sr., Larry James Tobin
Larry James Tobin Nesbitt Sr., 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God, by the Rev. Rick Gail. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; children, Fred Tobin Sr., Larry (Michelle) Nesbitt Jr. and Daneen (Johnny) Clark Sr., all of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Steven Tobin of Davenport and Quincy Tobin of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ryan, Fred Jr. Raelene, Katie, Keegan Tobin, Ambrosia and Alyssa Dixon, Ashley and Alivia Nesbitt and Johnny Clark Jr.; great-grandchildren, Alexys, Breanna, Hayven, Brooklyn, Hunter and Alek; mother-in-law, Delores Zerbee; goddaughter, Candy Collins; and aunt, Ilene Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Cedar Rapids to James Nesbitt and Wanda Tobin. He married Connie Zerbee there on June 19, 1970. Larry was a Marine veteran of Vietnam, earning the Purple Heart. He was employed by Sealed Air Cryovac for over 31 years, retiring in 2009. Larry loved to fish, bowl, and barbecue, but most importantly to spend time with his family. He was a member of First Assembly of God, where he volunteered in the four-year-old day care and the Welcome Ministry.
