Neoma M. Burton, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Keystone Cedars. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial with military rites at 1 p.m. Friday at Fremont Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, Neb. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Rick (Natalie); a granddaughter, Dana (Justin) Murphy; and one great-grandson. all of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Neoma was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Fremont, and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in education. She married Richard E. Burton on April 15, 1950, in Fremont. Richard died in 1986.
Neoma taught at Linn-Mar for over 12 years and later worked for the State of Iowa in the employment services department. She was a member of PEO, Four Score, Beta Sigma Phi, St. Pius X Catholic Church and proudly served in the Navy during World War II as a WAVE.
Neoma was a world traveler and did so well into her 80s. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
