Nelson, Rebecca R. 'Becky'

Rebecca R. “Becky” Nelson, 75, of 1441 Miami Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday Nov. 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; and two daughters, Chris Nelson of Cedar Rapids, and Geri (John) Kearney of Ottumwa.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah and Rose.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Becky was born on June 18, 1935, in Farnhamville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Ruth Knott Heddrich. She graduated from Coe College and taught elementary school for several years. She married Jerry D. Nelson on Sept. 30, 1961, in Buckeye. Becky was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for several local companies.

She was a faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir as well as being a member of several prayer groups both in Iowa and Florida where she and Jerry spent their winters.

Becky was a wonderful wife, mother and especially enjoyed the special relationship she had with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

A memorial fund has been established in Becky's name.
