Nelson, Neil Elmer
Neil Elmer Nelson, 85, of St. Olaf, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf. The Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Nelson of St. Olaf; children, Nina Nell (Ron) Taylor of Decorah, Nola Kay (Jim) Blake of Tucson, Ariz., and LeRoy Neil (Dee) Nelson of Elkader; stepchildren, Debra J. Troester of St. Olaf, Virginia D. (Rick) Shefelbine of Garnavillo, Alan Troester of Guttenberg and Calvin (Angela) Troester of Earlville; six grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren.
