Nelson, Marion J.
Marion J. Nelson, 60, of Iowa City, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a short hospitalization. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg.
Marion was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Jessie (Marks) Schipper. Growing up in the Parkersburg area, she graduated from Parkersburg High School. Marion then received her nursing degree from Allen School of Nursing in Waterloo and her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Iowa. She married Kenneth Nelson on May 18, 1973, in Parkersburg. Marion was currently a nurse in the Iowa Care Assistance Center at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Survivors include her husband, Ken; sons, Nathan Nelson of Cedar Rapids and Christopher Nelson (Brittany) of Marion; sisters, Bena (Floyd) Bierman of Dumont and Anna (Royce) Harms of Wellsburg, sisters-in law, Lorraine of Aplington, Clarene of Ackley, Marian of Aplington, Janette Nelson of Cedar Falls and Thorana Nelson (Victor) of Logan, Utah; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, George, John, Richard and Arnold Schipper; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Schipper.
