Nelson, Frances Lorraine

Frances Lorraine Nelson, 76, of Sycamore, Ill., formerly of Arlington and Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Bethany Healthcare Rehab Center in DeKalb, Ill. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, Ill., with the Rev. Dr. Janet H. Hunt officiating. Per Fran's request, there will be no visitation.

She was born May 23, 1935, in Randalia, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Viola (Jacobsen) Blue. She married Ture A. Nelson Jr. on Sept. 22, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Frances worked as an accountant for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and as financial secretary at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore for 25 years.

She enjoyed reading, genealogy, traveling, and embroidering. Frances was involved with her children's activities, especially Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also was a very active member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Linda Nelson of Wheaton, Ill., Ture A. Nelson III of Berlin, Vt., and Diane (Jeff) Borgwardt of Longview, Texas; brothers and sisters, Robert (June) Blue of Wadena, Bonnie Blue of Arlington, Connie (Lavern) Schaefers of Wadena, Allan (Cheryl) Blue of Altoona and Alice (John) Waderscheid of New Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Leon.

A memorial fund has been established for Salem Lutheran Church.
