Nelson, Everett H.
Everett H. Nelson, 89, of Independence, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. Shirley Rozendaal officiating. Burial: Rowley Cemetery, Rowley. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marian M. Nelson; eight children, Sharon (Marvin) Thompson, Judy (Keith) Roberts and Margaret Ownby, all of Independence, Patricia Nelson, Eugene, Ore., Connie Harris, Cedar Rapids, Douglas Nelson, St. Petersburg, Fla., Dean (Malia) Nelson, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Brian (Leslie) Nelson, Fletcher, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Boies; a brother, Mervin Nelson; and five sisters, Leona Hagen, Wilma Heiserman, Lorena Ward, Ila Morris and Imogene Peterson.
