Nelson, Darlene Ann
Darlene Ann Nelson, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Mike Klappholz. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, William of Cedar Rapids; mother, Evelyn Brummer of Cedar Rapids; brother, Rodney Brummer of Galena, Ill.; sisters, Bonnie Akers and Sheila Moses, both of Cedar Rapids; and one granddaughter.
Darlene was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Calendonia, Minn., the daughter of Rhinhart “Pat” and Evelyn (Tessin) Brummer. On Oct. 11, 1958, she married William Nelson in Waukon, Iowa. Darlene enjoyed camping, fishing, gambling and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her father; sons, Scott and Jeffrey; and a sister, Gloria Henry.
