Nelson, Darlene A.
Darlene A. Nelson, 85, of Tama, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at Carrington Place of Toledo, under the care of Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Darlene was born on June 24, 1924, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Cletus and Marie (Hallisy) Crawford. She graduated from Tama High School in 1943. Darlene was united in marriage to Spencer R. “Bob” Nelson on June 23, 1951, in Ankeny, Iowa. She was formerly the bookkeeper and office manager at Tama County Public Health Service for 13 years. Darlene was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama and the Tama American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Virginia Meneley, Betty Lacina and Alice Haughey; and five brothers, Raymond, Darrel, Cletus, James and Robert Crawford.
Survivors include her husband, Spencer R. “Bob” Nelson of Tama; two daughters, Pam Morgan of Tama, and Jenifor (Bob) Menzer of Andover, Minn.; one son, Bob (Tina) Nelson of Marion; grandson, Josh (Amy) Nelson; great-grandson, Brody Nelson; granddaughter, Kirsten Nelson; and great-grandson, Holden Swyers; a special niece, Jackie Weiland; and many other nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
