Neil D. Neumeyer, 82, of Walker, Iowa, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Sacred Heart Parish Center, Walker, where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include his children, Theresa Neumeyer of Cedar Rapids, Betsy McMullen of Walker and Debbie (Ivan) Anderson of Ryan, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Diane Neumeyer of Stoughton, Wis.; five grandchildren, Sam, Noah and Chloe Neumeyer of Stoughton, Wis., and Cierra and Savannah McMullen of Walker; "special granddaughter" Ely (Stephan) Whitaker and their children, Anderson, Magdalene, Vey and Bennet, all of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Butch (Patsy) Neumeyer, Bob (Hollyce) Neumeyer and Dean (Joyce) Neumeyer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; son, Randi; and brother, Don.
Neil was born July 29, 1934, the son of Rudolph and Viola (Abbott) Neumeyer, in Denison, Iowa. A graduate from Denison High School, he went on to serve his country with the U.S. Air Force. Neil was united in marriage to Patricia Lien at the Little Brown Church on Oct. 22, 1960, in Nashua, Iowa.
Neil worked as an insurance agent. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lions Club and the Walker Fire Department. An avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, Neil also was a fan of the Vikings and Yankees. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, taking the grandkids fishing and loved cribbage.
But his greatest love was being with his grandkids.
