Neil Leslie Boudreaux, 55, peacefully passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by his family and soulmate.
He was born in Lafayette, La., on Oct. 18, 1966. He graduated from Vermillion Catholic high school in Abbeville, La., then attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He found his life passion, obtaining his cosmetology license and found accomplishment in developing a successful salon business in Louisiana. In 1997 Neil relocated to Iowa, where he continued growing his career by opening Neil Boudreaux Salon. He cherished the relationships fostered by owning his own business.
Neil enjoyed the friendships he made through serving the community. He was compassionate to their needs and volunteered on multiple organizations’ boards. He had a special fondness for Theatre Cedar Rapids, Shop with A Cop, Meals on Wheels and extended himself to many other organizations throughout the metropolitan area.
Neil was a lifelong ambassador of Louisiana here in Iowa and made sure everyone experienced that authentic Cajun cooking. He enjoyed displaying his adoration of the Cajun cuisine by hosting multiple fundraisers, socials and family gatherings in his self-made Louisiana style courtyard.
Neil was grateful for how much time he was able to spend with his family over the last few years.
Neil was survived by soulmate of 27 years, Donald Linder of Marion, Iowa; his father, James Pervis Boudreaux; brother, Randy Boudreaux; sister, Pamela Boudreaux-Burley (John Burley), all of Milton, La. He also had his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his beloved mother, Gertrude Boudreaux; grandparents, Alcee and Alvida Hulin Hebert and Leody and Anaise Boudreaux; aunts, Joyce Hebert Ducharme, Janel Hebert Savoie, Melba Hebert Melancon and Sable Boudreaux-Trahan; and uncles, Howard Hebert, Earl Hebert and Elton Hebert.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom on Monday, July 11, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. with the Certified Celebrant, Randy Walton officiating.
