Neil Everett Hamilton, 84, of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at his home in Gilbert.
Neil was born March 8, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Everett W. Hamilton and Dorothy (Dunbar) Hamilton. Neil graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950, entered the Navy and after returning home worked in the data processing field. He retired from Linn County Data Processing in 1995 and moved to Arizona.
He was married to his wife, Marilyn, on May 5, 1957, just short of 60 wonderful years.
Neil is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Hennings) Hamilton; son, Steven N. Hamilton of Marshalltown; daughter, Cathy Kelley of Gilbert; brother, Russ Hamilton of Cedar Rapids; sister, Joyce Freeman of Gulf Shores, Ala.; brother, Dennis Hamilton and wife Linda of Norway, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Hennings of Jefferson City, Mo.
