Neighbor, Betty M.
Betty M. Neighbor, 84, of Shellsburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Vinton. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Fred Darbonne will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Monday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (John) Betterton of Shellsburg; two sons, Jon Dixon (Linda) Neighbor of Marion and Richard (Mary Ann) Neighbor of Bloomington, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Chuck (Kim) Betterton, Paul (Lisa) Betterton, Becky (Jay) Beauchamp, Matt (Jodie) Betterton, Julie (Jim) Miller, Dixon (Deb) Neighbor, Beth (Gary) Stockert and Kate (Mike) Berger; and 18 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Charlie, Kaylee, Keaton, Katie, Kelsey, Kaden, Taylor, Jake, Paige, Maddie, Jack, Hunter, Dylan, John, Scott, Mike and Carl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Roy Willer; her husband, Charles E. Neighbor; and a brother, Paul Willer.
Betty was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Mellen, Wis. She married Charles E. Neighbor on July 28, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 2000. She was a member of First Christian Church and former member of Cedar Christian Church. Her family was her life.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
