Ned F. Albert, 84, of Marion, passed away after a short illness surrounded by family on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mike Morgan. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Ned was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Eldo and Wilma (Farris) Albert. He graduated from Vinton High School and served in the U.S. Army. On June 6, 1954, in Vinton, Ned was united in marriage to Constance Cottrell. He was employed by Hy-Vee in Marion as a meat cutter since 1979. In his retirement years, Ned worked as a courier for Weland Labs. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Ned enjoyed traveling and time at Lake Delhi with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Gregg (Edy) Albert, Shawn (Jeff) Bouslog, Scott (Lila) Albert, David (Chele) Albert and Michael (Sara) Albert; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Dorothy) Albert.
Ned was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Connie Albert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
