Nebel, Loretta A.
Loretta A. Nebel, 91, of Living Center East, died there Friday, Feb. 12, 2010. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after noon Monday. Pastoral Associate Linda Stavropoulos will officiate. Entombment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included one daughter, Rita Nelson, and a daughter–in-law, Joyce Nebel, both of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Helen Brown of St. Louis, Mo. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David (Lisa) Nebel, Kathy (Bill) Roberts, Janet (Steve) Howe, Kelly, and Scott (Sandra) Nelson and Sherry Shultz; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded inn death by her parents; husband; a son, Richard; five sisters, three brothers; and a son-in-law, Allen.
Loretta was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Hopkinton, where she attended school and grew up. She was the daughter of Pete and Mary Murphy Grieff. Loretta married Maurice Nebel on April 14, 1936, in Hopkinton. He died in 1982.
Loretta worked for a short time at Wilson-Sinclair, then for 27 years at McKesson-Robbins as a pharmaceutical clerk and later at Grant Wood Area Education for 16 years, retiring in 1994. She volunteered at Mercy Medical Center for several years and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and time spent with her family.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy or All Saints Catholic Church.
