Neal G. Stanerson, 81, of Conroy, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at his home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at
Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, with the Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Kloster Funeral Home,
Marengo.
Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice.
Neal is survived by his daughter, Kari Stanerson of Conroy; a grandson, Alec Rauch of Conroy; sisters, Donna Moffatt (Dennis) of Winfield, Ill., and Carol Coffin of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Alan DeGraw (Judy) of
Howell, Mich., and Keith Kleis (Judy) of Baldwin; and sisters-in-law, Myrle Stanerson of Williamsburg, Ruth Honold (Marv) of Grinnell and Diane Levetzow (Bob) of Sabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty, in 1995; a brother, Victor; and a sister, Joyce Huedepohl.
Neal Godfrey Stanerson was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Conroy, Iowa, the son of
Allan Stanerson and Anna Furler Stanerson. He grad-uated from Hilton High School in Conroy with the class of 1953 and served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Korea. Neal married Betty DeGraw on July 10, 1965, in Maquoketa.
He was a longtime farmer in Iowa County. He retired from farming and went to work in the main-tenance department at Tanger Mall. He then worked with Grace Exca-vation, Tiffin, for several years.
Neal was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy and a lifetime member of VFW Post 8797 in Williamsburg.
