Neal, Patrick Robert

Patrick Robert Neal, 67, of Urbandale, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 9, 2011, in his home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the church.

Survivors include his children, Tim (Mary Beth) Neal and Molly (Todd) Clubb; a brother, Steve Neal; three sisters, Mary Hartman, Margaret Barthelme and Jane Kimball; and six grandchildren, Cole, Katie, Kyle, Daniel, James and Keely.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Patrick was born at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Following his graduation from Jefferson High School he enlisted in the Navy. Patrick moved away from Cedar Rapids in 1982 and had a successful career as a vice president/general manager with companies in Iowa, Minnesota, Arizona, Mexico and Wisconsin.

In his retirement Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family and was an advocate for veterans mental health issues. Patrick also thoroughly enjoyed photography, drawing, music and literature.

Patrick was very compassionate and had a wonderful sense of humor.

He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
