Nauholz, Margie J.
Margie J. Nauholz, 88, of Arlington, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington, with the Rev. Paul Fohs and the Rev. Lin Reichstadter officiating. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
Survivors include a daughter, Roxann (Gary) Woolf of Dubuque; son, Mark (Lori) Nauholz of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jeremy Woolf (fiancee Wendy Buesing) of Dubuque, Krista Woolf Carpenter (husband Morgan) of Minneapolis, Cassandra Nauholz of Cedar Rapids, Kallie Nauholz of Cedar Rapids and Coley Nauholz of Cedar Rapids; great-grandson, Lachlan Carpenter of Minneapolis; two sisters, Darlene Garner of Syracuse, N.Y., and Shirley Deering of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl, on Feb. 8, 2001.
Margie June Rueckert was born June 10, 1924, in Westgate, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Ina (Fox) Rueckert. She graduated from West Central High School in Maynard with the class of 1942. Margie was united in marriage to Carl Henry Nauholz on May 12, 1951, at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein. Margie was a homemaker and later a foster parent from 1955 to 1974. Margie and Carl were herdsmen in the Maynard and Jesup areas for many years. They later were milk testers for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 15 years, retiring in 1998. They had also been resident managers of the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington from 1984 to 2003.
Margie enjoyed reading, fishing and playing cards. Margie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, the Arlington Business Men's Club, the Westgate American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.
A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.
