Nattress, Glendora L.
Glendora L. Nattress, 93, of Iowa City, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at River Community Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date in Milford, Iowa.
Glendora Lenore Hudson was born April 7, 1919, in Wessington Springs, S.D., the daughter of William and Johanna (Siegmund) Hudson. She was united in marriage to Cedric Nattress on Sept. 1, 1934, in Sisston, S.D. Cedric died in 1945, and later in 1949, she moved with their family from Milford, Iowa to Iowa City. Here she worked for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years, retiring in the mid-1990s.
She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church, now River Community Church. She was very active in her church as a leader of the Pioneer Girls, served as financial secretary, and numerous other ways she was involved.
She loved her family and friends dearly, and despite her age, was very computer savvy, including being on Facebook!
Her family includes two daughters, Eldora Marshall (Harold) of Elkhorn, Neb., and MaryEtta Chapman of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Delores Dyer of Cokato, Minn.; and her brother, Garland Hudson (Maryln) of Pharr, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Jeanette Nattress and DeVonna Keith; son, Larry Nattress; brother, Darrell Hudson; and her granddaughter, Nikki.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory.
